Are There Any Fire Proof Homes Out There?

My main reason for posting this question is because I almost have to evacuate my home in San Diego Co. but the Fire Eaters moved pretty swiftly so that none of us really had to leave, thank God for that one, hu? But then it left me wondering , what types of materials would I purchase , (other than brick) to design my Fire proof home? Are there any people who actually live in one, ever seen a fire around them while standing INSIDE of their home, if so where did you purchase your materials, or did you go thru a company, if so who did you go with, was it expensive, is it cost effective. I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING REGARDING THIS PARTICULAR TYPE OF LIVING. Please help me to do that. Thanks. Dee.
