Is there a way to get a deposit back?

My mother put down a deposit for a banquet facility and we are very dissatisfied with them, needless to say we rushed into them for my wedding and I did a tasting and the food was horrible, and my mother spoke to them tonight and they were so rude. We did sign a contract, but i didn't know if anyone has gotten out of a deposit before?
