What should be humanity's reaction to a far more intelligent species?

suppose a far more intelligent species is found,of course it has to be aliens,anyways by far more intelligent i mean there intellect level should be roughly as greater to humans as ours is to lets say goats.in such a scenario what should be mankind wisest approach and reaction in dealing with them?
